    Rías Baixas

Albariño heads the list of seven white varieties permitted in the Rías Baixas protected designation of origin in Galicia.2 In recent harvests it made up more than 96% of all grapes picked there.2 A wine labelled Rías Baixas Albariño must be 100% Albariño.2

The designation has five subzones: Val do Salnés, Condado do Tea, O Rosal, Ribeira do Ulla and Soutomaior.2 Its specification notes that soils formed on granite stand out across the area.2
