How we work
Every figure on vinoluma links to the document it came from. Here is how we choose those documents.
Five levels of sources
- 1Regulators and appellation rulesEUR-Lex, INAO, TTB
- 2International organisations and databasesOIV, VIVC
- 3Peer-reviewed scienceNature Genetics, OENO One, Vitis
- 4Universities and wineriesUC Davis, Geisenheim, winery sites
- 5Reference booksOxford Companion to Wine
We link out only to levels 1–4. Reference books (level 5) are used next to a primary source, never instead of one.
Who writes the texts
Texts are written with the help of AI (Claude by Anthropic). Facts are checked by a separate AI agent that did not write the text, against the source documents themselves. There are no sommeliers or editors on staff, and we do not pretend otherwise.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no shop, no affiliate links.
- No wine ratings or tasting scores.
- No figures without a source. If data is missing, the page says so.
